Semper Fidelis: Giving Back to a Veteran

Since its founding in 2009, Great Northern Builders has had a love and respect for the communities it serves. GNB’s owner, Chris, strives to give back to his community as much as possible. So, when an opportunity arose through his brother and coworker, Nate, to invest in a local veteran, he jumped at the chance to help! Growing up, Nate and his friend Seth wrestled with Kyle Anderson at Simley High School in Inver Grove Heights. A hard worker through and through, Kyle went on to win the State Championship in 2003.

After high school, Kyle enlisted in the Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal in the legendary 35 Battalion. While he was deployed to Baghdad in Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was on a supply mission when his convoy was attacked, and an IED struck Kyle. A fighter to the core, Kyle endured extensive injuries. In 2005, he was awarded a Purple Heart in recognition of his service and great sacrifice in defense of the United States.

Kyle’s motto is, “Never quit—never give up!” Decades later, he still embodies that philosophy. This winter, his friend Seth connected Kyle with Great Northern Builders to improve his living situation. GNB worked with Seth and Kyle to build a multi-purpose addition to his home. The new garage allows Kyle to hang out, relax with friends, and park his ATV safely. As a vendor with experience working with the VA, Chris and the team knew how to make the project go smoothly. They also facilitated material donations from Kyle’s grateful community.

The entire Great Northern Builders team was proud to work with Kyle. Serving someone who sacrificed so much for our country was an honor. We hope Kyle feels the support of his community and enjoys his new space for many years! Click here to see the story Check out the big reveal Here
